SEE project holds concluding event in Brussels

The project SEE held its concluding event in Brussels on 21 September. The event was attended by representatives of the project partners, their organised volunteers and several citizens of the model communities.

The agenda of the event consisted of wrapping up the substantial communication campaigns that each partner had been running in their model communities. Communication work will go on beyond the project, but the final event took the opportunity to jointly look at the conducted activities and do a quick evaluation of specific actions that stood out and were successful one each local level. These included stakeholder meetings, seeking the support of local or national administrations or politicians, or integration of spontaneous volunteering into public civil protection exercises or exhibitions.

The SEE consortium also took the opportunity to present full beginning-to-end summaries of the local participatory processes and their results to the audience, showcasing best practices and lessons learned from the process and enabling adaptation by others in their ongoing processes to gain more spontaneous volunteer pre-registrations and continue their work on the local level. The participants and audience did not only conclude organisation staff and formal volunteers, but several citizens of the local communities that were not previously involved with the project’s civil protection organisations. To conclude the project, the event also provided space to exchange best practices and discuss and set-up follow-ups, such as the sharing of technological solutions used to implement the local concepts and facilitate local engagement.
